Played nuts Friday!
Not ideal sound but I was told about that the day before the gig so should've dealt with it.
Was nice to meet Dizzie. Fantastic percussionist and a really nice person too, just sorry I didn't perform better!
I'm not being melodramatic it's just one of those things that I guess happens from time to time.
Should become an annual event though and met some cool people. Tijuana were a really nice bunch of lads and I look forward to seeing them play in the future. Had to get outta there Friday as was hammered! Their dad was a nice fella too and introduced me to a chap who does some promotions over in Glastonbury so look out for some gigs that way...
Also met a really good band called Clumsy. They have been building their own studio and recording their album at the same time and have been doing some youth mentoring to help with funds. Nice blokes and a quirky but cool sound. They kind of reminded me a bit of Gomez but not in a rip off way a good way in that they seem knowledgeable about their roots etc...
The Matthews Parry Band were interesting. They suffered by being sound guinea pigs on the main stage and had to abandon their set midway through due to technical problems. Some cool loops and far out stuff involving guitar effects and a saxaphone combined to give a distinctly West Country tinge to proceedings. I proclaimed that they were like Human League being savaged by Garbage which I meant as a compliment but not sure if they took it right! Their acoustic guitarist Rob played a blinding set on the acoustic stage that included a version of Smells Like Teen Spirit. They are talking about doing a gig in Bath together in December which will be cool...
Turns out the lady who ran the festival is the mother of the guy who is B-Unique Records which just goes to show you never know where or when opportunity may come knocking!
